As we already know, Adele is back in a big way, with her new single "Hello" breaking sales records and earning high praise from critics and fans alike.
Today, Rolling Stone released a cover featuring a makeup-free Adele, along with a surprisingly candid interview from the famously private songstress.
In the excerpt that seems to be getting the most attention from fans, Adele is asked about her views on - what else - Taylor Swift's "squad."
To wit, the iconic magazine's writer described Adele's demeanor in a way that might reveal more than her actual comments:
“'I’ve heard about a squad,' she says with an amused snort. 'I wish my squad was all supermodels. We are, in our brains. I guess I have my own squad.'"
"She pronounces the word in a comical American accent. 'It’s not as interesting as some of the other squads that are around right now.'”
It sounds like Adele isn't throwing shade, exactly.
However, it does sound like she's dishing out a healthy dose of British derision and sarcasm when discussing the wildly popular American sensation.
Of course, Taylor's Bad Blood music video held the record for most VEVO views in a 24 hour period, until T-Swift was just knocked from her perch.
"Hello," indeed. Adele has come to play.
Still, we doubt there's any real animosity between these two, if only because it's hard to imagine Adele giving enough f--ks to make this a thing.
With that said, we also don't think you Adele will be joining the absurdly long list of celebrities who have joined Taylor on stage any time soon.
