Taylor Swift's smash single "Shake It Off" has become so ubiquitous since its release earlier this fall that it somehow even managed to travel through time.

How else do you explain her album sales, which look like totals from a bygone era, or the fact that an '80s aerobics routine managed to use the hit track?

Or so you might think, thanks to YouTube user Thomas Jung, who combined this '80s video with the song, making for just about the best video maybe ever:

The choreography, originally performed at the 1988 Crystal Light National Aerobic Championship hosted by Alan Thicke, syncs perfectly to "Shake It Off."

We're not sure what's funnier, how well Swift's song fits the video or the fact that this was, at one point, an actual thing that existed somewhere in civilization.

It's almost as if Swift (who was born in 1989 and whose already wildly successful album 1989 was released last week) wrote the tune while watching this clip.

We can certainly see her dancing like this in the studio or at home.

Swift herself caught wind of the video Friday, tweeting a link and the caption: "Sneak peak at the official 'Shake It Off' choreography for the 1989 World Tour."

Swifty goes full psycho ex on the dude, and her mascara-smeared, knife-wielding performance is clearly meant to be a parody of the way she's been portrayed in the press.

The song's lyrics, however, seem to reveal Taylor's bleak take on her own romantic past.

Lines like, "Got a long list of ex-lovers, they'll tell you I'm insane," and, "Boys only want love if it's torture" may not seem to mesh well with the humorous imagery of the video, but maybe that's the point.

Taylor's clearly found a way to laugh through her pain, and perhaps she's hoping that this video will inspire some heartbroken fans to do the same.

Katy Perry's random boyfriend DJ Diplo continued his feud with Taylor Swift and Lorde on Twitter, which is already one of the sillier sentences we can recall writing.

After he mocked Taylor Swift's booty for no reason last week, her BFF came to her defense as Lorde dissed Diplo's tiny penis in an epic Twitter burn.

Now the electronic music guru is hitting back, re-tweeting her "should we do something about your tiny penis while we're at it" zing with this parenthetical aside:

Last night's 2014 American Music Awards featured plenty of surprises, many of them involving beauty and/or booty.

Bleona Qereti was nearly nude on the red carpet, but most of the night's memorable moments were delivered by stars we'd actually heard of before:

Taylor Swift opened the show with a high-energy performance that should earn her either an Oscar or a restraining order. We're not sure which, but either way we were sufficiently frightened.

Amazingly, however, Taylor was not the most emotional performer of the night. That title goes to Selena Gomez.

Selena cried on stage while singing "The Heart Wants What It Wants" - a heart-wrenching ballad inspired by her stormy relationship with Justin Bieber.

In between all the on-stage drama, the show's organizers actually found time to hand out an award or two.

One Direction won big, taking home trophies for Favorite Album, Favorite Band Duo or Group, and Artist of the Year.

Yes, the British lads basically pulled off a clean sweep at the American Music Awards.

Between 1D's dominance, and show-stopping performances by Jessie J and Iggy Azalea, there was a distinctly international flavor to one of the US music industry's biggest night.

Given how wildly entertaining the ceremony was, we're sure everyone on hand was quite alright with the United Nations vibe. Here's hoping next year's show can continue the trend of celebrating the world's most talented artists.

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are more than just best-selling recording artists. 

They are also best friends!

This relationship was on full display at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, as Selena performed her new track ("The Heart Wants What It Wants"), breaking down on stage over Justin Bieber.

Toward the end of the rendition, cameras panned to a clearly emotional Swift in the crowed, showing support for her good pal.

Not long after the ceremony, Swift and Gomez were joined by a bunch of friends (including Lorde) for a fun gathering at which the above photo was snapped.

“Not a better way to end my night. Surrounded by SO much love,” wrote Gomez in regard to the image.

Swift and Gomez have reportedly clashed over the years due to the latter's up and down relationship with Bieber (who can ever forget Swift sticking out her tongue upon seeing them kiss?), but they remain very close.

Selena was one of many stars to positively gush over Swift's new album last month, while Gomez also told Ellen DeGeneres in a recent interview that Taylor is constantly telling her to move to New York City.

For now, Gomez says she's happy in Los Angeles.

But don't be surprised if she and Taylor team up one day to totally take over The Big Apple.

The relationship between Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger may be the most unexpected love connection of the year, but believe it or not, these two are actually making it work.

Witnesses at Miley's 22nd birthday party last week say Cyrus and Schwarzenegger were inseparable all night long. We've even heard rumors that Miley and Patrick are "falling in love" already.

However, initial reports claimed that Patrick's mother, Maria Shriver, was "horrified" by his relationship with Miley and was doing everything in her power to put a stop to it.

Now, the former First Lady of California has apparently done a complete 180 and welcomed Miley into the family.

So what changed? Well, according to insiders, Patrick was able to open his mother's eyes to the reasons he fell for Miley - she's funny; she's spontaneous...and she's nothing like Taylor Swift:

You see, back in 2012, Patrick's cousin Conor Kennedy dated Taylor briefly. This was back when Swifty was actually a psycho girlfriend and didn't just play one in her music videos.

Taylor went full-blown Stage 5 Clinger on Conor, even buying a house next to his family's home in Martha's Vineyard.

The relationship didn't work out, because - Surprise! - not every 18-year-old dude is looking to get married, and Conor reportedly had a very difficult time removing Taylor from his life.

"Maria was terrified it would be another nightmare like the Taylor situation," an insider tells Radar Online. "Taylor was their biggest fear. They all thought it was going to turn out like that."

However, after seeing the two of them together on several occasions, Maria has apparently realized that Miley is more likely to get psychotically attached to a bong than to a boy.

These days, Miley and Patrick are making no effort to hide their relationship, and sources say the relationship is moving very fast.
